Founder & Coach
The most recognized male figure skating star in the world, Scott Hamilton has won 70 titles, awards and honors including an Emmy Award nomination, induction into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame and a privileged member of the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame. He captured the attention of the world just over 30 years ago with his Olympic Gold medal performances in Saravejo and since has shared his love and enthusiasm for the sport as a commentator, performer, producer and best-selling author (Landing It, 1999; The Great Eight, 2014), and most recently with the founding of the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy. He further inspires others as a speaker, philanthropist and cancer and pituitary brain tumor survivor.
Scott is actively involved in his Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, and its programs Chemocare.com and RadCare.org and patient mentoring program the 4th Angel Network. He serves on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics International, Provision Healthcare Foundation in Knoxville, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. He also actively supports philanthropies including: Best Buddies of Middle Tennessee and LiveBeyond.
In his free time, Scott can be found on the golf course and enjoys spending time with his wife Tracie and four children – at their home outside Nashville, Tennessee.
Skating Director & Coach
Bill Fauver is a 2 time U.S. Olympic Team Member and 5 time U.S. World Team Member. He is Master Rated PSA, Level V Ranking. In his performing years, he toured with “Stars on Ice”, “Torvill and Dean’s World Tour” as well as the “John Curry Company” and other skating shows. He also served as a former Board Member of U.S.F.S.A. and S.T.A.R. (Serving the American Rinks).
Bill teaches from Learn to Skate through Elite International Competitors. He is available for private lessons from Basic Skills through Elite, covering Choreography, Jumps, Spins, “Creating Style” and Moves in the Field as well as Pairs and Harness Lessons. His specialties include On Ice Edge and Artistry Class, based on the “Curry Class” and Ballet Classes for Skaters. He is an expert Skating Technician and skate sharpener.×
Paula Kaye Trujillo
Associate Skating Director & Coach
Paula Kaye Trujillo is Professional Skaters Association Triple Master Rated in Freestyle, Choreography and Style, and a Group Instructor. She performed in Ice Capades for 10 years.
Paula has coached athletes of all levels for the past 17 years from tots to Elite Professional Skaters all over the world. She’s worked as Production Assistant with Willy Bietak Productions Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Ice Shows. Her duties include production, choreography development and professional skater development.
Paula developed 7 volunteer camps for children with life threatening illnesses, abused and neglected children, burn victims, and children with Autism in the Las Vegas Area that started 18 years ago and are thriving today!
She is available for coaching private lessons in Basic Skills, Freeskate, Choreography and Style, Spin Technique, Jump Technique, Moves in the Field, Show Production, Hockey Skills, beginner and advanced Adult Skaters and coach mentoring programs.
Paula met her husband Victor, Master Electrician for Ice Capades, while touring together. After touring, they settled down in Las Vegas, NV raising their delightful children Arielle (age 24) and Dylan (age 21). She & Victor moved to Nashville for her to be a part of the “build skaters, from the ice up, in a fun creative environment” approach Scott Hamilton Skating Academy is bringing to our community.×
Brooke Andersen has achieved the ranking of Junior Level Freestyle, Gold Level Ice Dance, and Senior Moves in the Field. She was a competitive figure skater 9 years, bringing her experience to the Scott Hamilton Academy Learn To Skate program.×
Ronnie grew up in Kansas, raised in Ohio and is flourishing in Nashville. Ronnie is a USFS Gold Medalist in Moves in the Field, USFS Junior FS Test, USFS Novice Pairs and Pre-Silver Dance tests. Ronnie has been teaching skaters throughout Nashville the fundamental skating skills of Hockey since year 2000. Ronnie is available for lessons in Hockey, Pair Skating, Freestyle private lessons. Ronnie’s greatest gifts to the world are his two small children whom you will often see blazing across the ice!×
Raised in Evansville, IN, Ashley Gowen passed Gold Moves in the Field, Intermediate Freeskate levels. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Indianapolis. Ashley has 7 years coaching experience in Evansville, IN and Indianapolis, IN. She is a PSA and USFS Member.×
Kelly Piptone Hobbs
Kelly Pipitone Hobbs is from Rockford, IL, training in Rockford/Chicago-area, and Colorado Springs, CO. She passed her Gold Freestyle, Gold MIF, Gold Figure Tests and Bronze Dance Tests. Kelly brings 10+ years of coaching experience to the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy. She is a full member of United States Figure Skating and Professional Skaters Association. Her PSA Ratings include: Registered FS, Registered Group and Certified Moves in the Field. Kelly enjoys teaching Freestyle, Moves In Field, and Choreography to skaters of all ages — from recreational to elite.×
Erin grew up in Boston, MA and has been skating since the age of 3. She has over 12 years of experience teaching USFSA Basic Skills throughout the Boston and Nashville areas. Erin has experience teaching both group and private lessons to students of all ages and ability levels. In addition, she excels at choreographing both show and competitive programs. Prior to moving to Nashville, Erin completed her master’s degree in Mind, Brain, and Education at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education and, in addition to teaching skating, currently works in the department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University as a lab manager. Emily Outlaw began her skating career at the age of seven. She trained at Centennial Sportsplex, University of Delaware, and Ice Castle with fantastic coaches such as: Karen Ludington, Joel Mckeever, and the world renowned Ron Ludington. Emily also has over ten years Classical Ballet, Jazz, and Tap dance training. She specializes in the Fields of Freeskating, Moves, Spins, and Pairs. She is enjoying teaching Learn to Skate classes with the Scott Hamilton Skating Academy.×
Kati Piper has been skating since the age of five. When she first glided on a frozen pond in Canada, she knew then that skating was something she needed in her life. She trained in Freestyle, Moves in the Filed, Dance, and Synchronized Skating. With 8 years of coaching experience, Katie instructs in the areas of Basic Skills, Moves in the Field, Freestyle, Synchronized Skating, Special Olympics, Ice Shows. Katie loves pizza, her Golden Retriever and Spinning.×
Gina Stefanov’s hometown is Cleveland, Ohio. She has 4 years of experience coaching private and group lessons in Dayton, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. For 6 years, she volunteered with Special Olympics figure skating program. Gina is a USFS Basic Skills Coach, ISI bronze and silver certified judge and Predators Ice Girl. When she’s not on the ice teaching, Gina works full time as a Physical Therapist. She received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2013 from the University of Pittsburgh.×
Kayla grew up in Dallas, Texas and skated there competitively for 9 years. She has competed at the Junior level and has tested through Novice Moves in the Field and Free skating. Before relocating to Nashville, Kayla taught Basic Skills 3 consecutive years in Dallas. Ford Ice Center is happy to welcome Kayla to our Coaching Staff. Kayla is available for private lessons in Basic Skills and Free skate levels 1-6.×
